What data rate do you get for $60 per month? Are higher data rates available?
I have used it a few times and it seemed that the data rate varied greatly (it may have been a function of how much snow was on the reflector), but I didn’t measure it. It is a shame that Hughes doesn’t increase their bandwidth. There is no reason they can’t, except that they apparently don’t think that enough people would pay for it.
At one time Hughes was planning on a very high bandwidth system that covered CONUS with multiple uplink and downlink sub-apertures. They were hoping to be cost competitive with landlines but gave up. It still seems like a scaled down version would be a good solution for remote areas.
